Hello!

My name is (Mary) Katie Barajas (she/her), and I want to share a little bit about me:

  • I identify as a white, cisgender, queer, able-bodied woman.

  • My ancestors primarily come from Ireland, Germany, Mexico/New Mexico, and Austria.

  • I am fluent in English and conversational in Spanish.

  • I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Colorado, and I graduated with a Master of Arts in Counseling from Regis University.

  • I reside in unceded territories of the Tséstho’e (Cheyenne), Hinono’eino’ biito’owu’ (Arapaho), and Núu-agha-tʉvʉ-pʉ̱ (Ute), and advocate for land back for all Indigenous peoples around the world, from Turtle Island to Palestine.

  • I love gardening and learning about plants.

  • I believe that tending to our wellbeing is an integral part of collective healing journey.

  • Some people who have helped me learn include Toi Marie Smith, Eutimia Cruz Montoya, Mariah Bottomly, Asia Dorsey, Dr. Jennifer Mullan, Dra. Rocio Rosales Meza, Andre Henry, Robin Wall Kimmerer, Candice Rose Valenzuela, Dr. Ayesha Khan, and Ndeye Oumou Sylla. This is by no means an exhaustive list and there are so many more people who have helped form who I am today.
